The new website will place ‘thousands of services and activities at your fingertips’ through a search engine facility which features an advanced search allowing visitors to specify the category, day of the week and age group of the service they are looking for. Young Lambeth has been developed in response to the closure of the Directgov Family Information Directory in March 2011, which generated a requirement for local authorities to take responsibility for the maintenance and development of their own search directories. Furthermore, the Childcare Act specifies that all directories must be accurate, up-to-date and easily accessible, which presents a clear need for a high quality online service. ![]() In order to enhance its online presence, Young Lambeth sought to find a company with the design, development and marketing capabilities to remaster its website and general image, connecting it with the target audiences and creating a more integrated, manageable and accurate directory. Alienation Digital won the project following a competitive tender, and collaborated with the Young Lambeth team to develop a more functional and user-friendly online directory, which produced relevant and up-to-date results for individual target groups, and linked in with a range of social media. Alienation Digital’s Senior Designer, Aidan Martin said: “The visual objective behind Young Lambeth was to create something truly compelling and engaging. We have married a number of different styles throughout to provide the perfect balance for the site’s users. Young Lambeth maintain the ability to adapt the site to their requirements, which in turn will help them to build upon this unique online destination for the people of the Lambeth area. The client has been involved with a number of focus groups to ensure we not only met their needs but exceeded them as best possible”.
