Brief

In October 2008, Alienation Digital won the contract to develop a brand new web presence for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) which would effectively convey the admirable work the charity does with sick children across the UK. Following the successful completion of this new website and the staff intranet system in 2009, CHAS returned to Alienation Digital to develop a volunteer specific extranet, in order to enhance communication and planning with its members.

Solution

Alienation created a dedicated extranet system for the some 900 CHAS volunteers, with simple, fluid design and navigation to meet the varying levels of computer literacy within this diverse user group. The homepage links to a number of key features, including volunteer resources, an interactive message board, volunteering opportunities listings, and an events calendar. The extranet system aims to facilitate communication, organisation and archiving, thus optimising administrative control and overall efficiency, and connecting members in remote locations across the UK.

The CHAS VIP extranet has connected the charity and people who volunteer with CHAS, thus massively enhancing the organisation's reach and ability to communicate effectively en masse.
