Social Responsibility
Doing Our Bit to Give Back
We believe that business should be about more than just making money. It should be about responsibility and public good.
Alienation is dedicated to social responsibility. We strongly believe that you only get out of life what you put in and that it is only right that we share our success with good causes. To that end we set up our yearly pro bono committment where we dedicate the entire company’s resources to a chosen cause.
This year Alienation endeavoured to develop a custom digital strategy and central web presence for the Kieran Maxwell Fund, as well as making a monetary donation to the cause. The Kieran Maxwell Fund aims to raise awareness and funds for 14-year-old Kieran Maxwell who lost his leg to cancer in 2010. All money raised via the online campaign will go towards purchasing new tailor-made gymnastics prosthetic legs, which will help him achieve his dream of participating in the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Dedicating agency resources and expertise, Alienation created new branding, a new streamlined Facebook Page and a bold new, hosted website. An integrated online campaign, supported by PR and social media, helped promote the site launch and encourage donations and support. Alienation Digital continues to provide digital consultancy and ongoing web
management for the Kieran Maxwell Fund.
In 2011 Alienation made a series of donations to charitable causes, including the Rainbow Group and Capability Scotland.
In 2010 we helped the Woodlands Community Garden and Energy Awareness Hub. Located in the Woodlands area of Glasgow, WCG have been transforming a derelict urban gap site into a thriving community garden from which they run community events, workshops and activities throughout the year.
Along with designing them a new logo and designing and building them a new content managed web site, the agency also spent some time helping out in the garden.
In 2009 our designers and developers designed and built a new website for ISEA Scotland. ISEA, Independent Special Education Advice, enables children and young people with additional support needs to receive effective resources in order to help them reach their potential.
Due to the overwhelming response to our 2009 offer, we opened it up to also include free digital marketing seminars in Glasgow and London for 30 additional charities and committed the company to providing pro bono work every year for a chosen cause.
With our environmental policy & commitment to remain carbon neutral, our donations to local causes, sponsorship deals and charity prize donations to the likes of the Glasgow Twitter Festival – Twestival 2010 – we want to embed social responsibility in our day-to-day business. Staff are encouraged to play their part and open themselves up to the benefits a responsible attitude can bring.
