On Tuesday I attended the Global Business Summit on Creative Content at the beautiful Lighthouse venue in Glasgow.
This session aimed to showcase the best in British business, highlighting the opportunities presented by digital and new technologies, the challenges around the commercialisation of creativity and celebrating this sector’s massive input into the national and global economy.
Organised by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the conference was streamed from the British Business Embassy in London and brought together some of the best minds in the UK creative sector. Ranging from art to architecture, film to fashion, and much more, the event looked under the surface of what truly constitutes creative content in today’s ever-shifting landscape.
Key speakers included renowned figures from across the broad creative spectrum, such as Ed Vaizey – Minister for Culture, Sir Howard Stringer – Chairman of Sony Corp, David Heyman – Producer of the Harry Potter film series, Ken Parks – Chief Content Officer at Spotify, and fashion editor Stella McCartney, to name but a few. All gave a unique insight into their area of expertise and how digital and technology have rapidly altered the way they work and what their consumers expect of them.
Nowadays digital plays such an important part in every creative sector, enhancing organisations’ and individuals’ ability to target new audiences, capitalise on opportunities and expand the reach of their communications beyond geographic boundaries.
