It is not every day that the Government announces the launch of a new £270 million programme.  In April 2008 the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) announced a £270 milllion programme to provide world class youth facilities for communities across England. The funding is being delivered through the Big Lottery Fund, who have committed £240 million so far to 62 projects.

The myplace project demanded a class leading website to attain the project goals of communicating to, engaging with, and inspiring young people to become actively involved in their communities' projects. In keeping with the demands of this target audience, the site was  has user led content and using social networking tools to allow users to engage with each other and display their work.

Alienation Digital were awarded the contract for the website as a result of achieving the goals of other organisations, such as the newly opened Warwick International Digital Lab. Alienation worked closely with leading Economic Development Consultants Hall Aitken, who led the overall support and development contract.

Take a look at what’s happening in the animated flash banner, designed to visually communicate the story of the myplace project – there’s always something different going on.

Register for the website and you can stay connected to your projects through your very own customisable, interactive myplace page. One of the key features of this is a ‘drag and drop’ mechanism that lets you move modules around to design your own homepage.

You can also follow myplace on Vimeo, Facebook, Bebo and Flickr to keep up to date with the latest developments.
