SFR required a new site that would meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders and would reflect the professionalism and history of the service. SFR is one of the largest services of its kind in Europe. Covering 13,625 sq km with some of the UK's most developed urban areas as well as some of its wildest and most remote, firefighting crews are based in 111 stations and operate a fleet of 172 emergency vehicles which includes specialist units as well as state of the art rescue pumps. ![]() With in-house .net experience, SFRs content management system of choice was Umbraco. Working in partnership with Conscia who delivered the technical elements, Alienation provided consultancy, design and copywriting services for the project. Alienation & Conscia have partnered previously on many successful projects. Together Alienation and Conscia took SFR through a number of internal stakeholder workshop sessions and worked with various departments to gather as much information as we could for the new website. Along with a fantastic new sector leading design, the SFR site features a facility to register for a fire safety visit to your home, a news feed with latest incident information, a history section, resources for children and a directory of local fire and rescue services. Accessibility has also been taken into consideration with the website following WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. The new web site now conveys a fitting image for a modern and dynamic fire service that is proud of its history and the service it provides. Neil Barr, MD Alienation Digital says: “It was fantastic working with such a prestigious organisation. Strathclyde Fire & Rescue now have one of the best websites of any fire service in the UK which we are very proud of – and we know they are too.”
