Friday, 28 November 2008 |
November was another storming month for Alienation with some great wins and new clients.
Big Lottery In partnership with Hall Aitken, Alienation have won the contract for myplace - delivered through the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). myplace aims to deliver world class youth facilities driven by the active participation of young people and their view and needs. The first phase of the new web site will be live early next year.
British American Tobacco & St James's Place In an exciting new development for Alienation we have teamed up with BAT and St James's to deliver an automated ecard system. Each stand-alone system allows staff and clients to send personalised animated ecards to as many recipients as they want. Our animated xmas ecards have already proved to be extremely popular. Now St James's staff and customers can select from a range of bespoke cards and send personalised messages to their Christmas card lists. BAT are using the system to allow staff to send a custom ecard to their business customers.
Administrators have access to reports that show who is using the system and how many cards have been sent. The system can be set up to take a payment or donation for each ecard sent or allow the users to send cards for free.
Alienation are in talks with a number of other companies and charities to provide them with the same system - not just for xmas ecards, but ecards for any situation.
If your organisation is interested in having its own ecard system, please get in touch with David Johnstone on +44(0)141 575 9700 or

Wednesday, 22 October 2008 |
Open source matters. For that reason, we are delighted to announce the release of extensions for the open source Joomla content management system.
Joomla is the worlds most popular award winning CMS system. Part of its popularity comes down to the thousands of extensions available to enhance the core system. Alienation has benefited from this community of developers and thought it was about time we gave something back. Today sees the release to two extensions developed by Alienation for Joomla - with more to follow.

As promised we managed to sneak in another couple of site launches this month. This time for the University of Warwick and the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research.
University of Warwick - International Digital Laboratory The
renowned International Digital Lab at the University of Warwick is a £50 Million pound initiative to
facilitate major collaborative research opportunities, create effective
knowledge transfer between academia and industry and generate new
knowledge and skills with an impact on business, society and the
economy. It includes a 5000m2 state of the art facility next to WMG’s
International Manufacturing Centre at the University of Warwick, to
provide an innovative environment for collaborative research,
demonstrators, knowledge transfer and training. It is the first
facility of its kind in the world. The Digital Lab is led by WMG,
working with some of the best minds and most successful businesses in
the world. Speaking about the lab, former Prime Minister Tony Blair said: “When
we talk about ground-breaking science with practical applications, we
need look no further than the West Midlands. The International Digital Lab
will provide a high quality research environment for multidisciplinary
teams. One aspect of this research is creating realistic virtual
environments for the training of surgeons or the design of new
operating theatres. This is research which will position the UK at the
forefront of medical technology.”
In a two phase project,
this is the first phase to go live. The second phase will be live by the end of the year.
